Speech Therapy
For Children

As a parent of either a monolingual or bilingual child, you might find yourself questioning whether Speech Therapy could benefit them. A Speech-Language Pathologist is qualified and trained to determine if your child has a speech and/or language disorder.

Untreated speech and language disorders in children may affect their literacy abilities and academic achievements. Left untreated, these issues could potentially result in behavioral, social, and emotional difficulties in the future.

Developmental Language Disorders (DLD)

We support children, ages 0-10, who have difficulty with language. This can include difficulties in understanding spoken language (Receptive) and/or difficulties with communicating their thoughts/ideas (Expressive). We strongly believe in supporting multimodal communication which entails communicating in multiple ways (i.e. spoken words, gestures, picture symbols, American-Sign Language, etc.).

Bilingual and Cultural Diversity

Destiny possesses expertise in bilingual speech & language development. This includes appropriately assessing and providing speech and language support to children who are exposed to more than one language. She understands that in a diverse world, children are not only exposed to multiple language but multiple English varieties. Destiny values supporting families who aim to introduce other languages beyond English to their children. She firmly believes that preserving the family's native language helps maintain a strong connection to their cultural heritage.

Parent Coaching

Parent consultations are offered to parents/caregivers that are seeking guidance on how to support their child's speech and language skills. Parent consultations can be scheduled either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. While parent consultations differ from formal speech therapy sessions and are not intended as substitutes for therapy, they are specifically designed for parents seeking additional guidance. These consultations serve as a supportive resource, particularly beneficial for those unsure about whether their child requires an evaluation. They aim to provide valuable insights and assistance to parents navigating concerns about their child's speech and language development.

At Multimodal Communication Speech Clinic P.C., we understand the vital role communication plays in building and sustaining meaningful relationships. Recognizing this, our mission is to empower your child by supporting their communication skills.
